A plug-in version of Hauptwerk on the Mac is definitely planned, but there's no equivalent at the moment. A gentleman found what looks to be an excellent freeware tool named Jack OS X that allows audio to be routed from one program (Hauptwerk) to another (a stand-alone convolver/reverb or a plug-in host running a convolver/reverb plug-in), with 'professional'-grade audio performance (low latency etc.): However, unfortunately it uses an audio format that is not supported by Hauptwerk v2.20 on Mac OS X.
I will investigate what is necessary to add this support, with a view to making Hauptwerk compatible with it in the next patch soon. In the meantime, unless anybody else knows of any alternatives, the easiest option is to use an audio interface that has built-in reverb, such as the Focusrite Saffire. The alternative would be an external hardware reverb unit. Best regards, Martin. Moderator Posts: 10644 Joined: Fri Mar 14, 2003 2:19 pm Location: UK. Just a thought on this: you could at least save a Hauptwerk 2 performance to audio and import the file to (for example) Logic Pro, which from version 7 has the 'Space Designer' convolution reverb plugin, with a wide variety of modifiable algorithms.
Convolution reverb. What it does. The ARIA Player includes a convolution engine for high-quality sampled reverb. Just as a Garritan sample library A piece of software consisting of a collection of recorded instrument sounds.
I suspect many of them are synthetic but very good sounding nevertheless. Tascam say they are working on getting Gigapulse to work on Mac. It definitely sounds awesome and is my preferred (PC only at this stage) reverb. Earler versions of Logic (up to 5.5) and other PC friendly sequencer/music production software can run the Gigapulse plugin now, although that is not the issue here for Mac users. Cheers, Stephen A.

As far as I could tell (I haven't tried it before), it doesn't have the ability to produce MIDI output to play external hardware or software MIDI equipment (only instruments plug-ins, which Hauptwerk doesn't yet provide on OS X), so it couldn't be used as a sequencer for sequencing MIDI with Hauptwerk v2.20. It also seems to be limited to a single stereo audio input and output. It can apply a set of basic real-time effects (including reverb), but I can't see any way of routing the audio output from Hauptwerk to GarageBand's audio input without additional intermediate 'virtual audio cable' software, such as Jack OS X. Hence, unfortunately I don't think it would be especially useful at the moment. Best regards, Martin. Moderator Posts: 10644 Joined: Fri Mar 14, 2003 2:19 pm Location: UK.
